Role Description This part-time remote Developer (Junior / Senior Engineer) role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining software solutions that support healthcare services at Unidade Local de Saúde de Loures-Odivelas. Day-to-day tasks include writing clean, efficient code, reviewing and refactoring existing code, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement new features and integrations. The developer will participate in technical planning, contribute to architecture and design discussions, and write basic documentation for developed components and APIs. Responsibilities also include testing and debugging applications, ensuring data security and privacy, and improving performance and reliability of existing systems. Junior and senior team members work together, with senior engineers providing guidance, mentoring, and technical leadership as needed.
Qualifications

• Solid programming skills in one or more modern languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript) and familiarity with object-oriented or functional programming concepts.
• Experience with web application development, including front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) or back-end frameworks (e.g., .NET, Spring, Node.js).
• Knowledge of databases and data access (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL solutions) and ability to design and query data structures.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle, version control systems (e.g., Git), and collaborative development practices (code reviews, branching, pull requests).
• Familiarity with testing practices (unit, integration, and automated tests) and basic troubleshooting and debugging techniques.
• Awareness of security, privacy, and reliability considerations in software handling sensitive or clinical data.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, part-time setting, manage priorities, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; prior experience in healthcare or public sector environments is an advantage.
