The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Software Developer to join our growing development team. This is an exciting opportunity for a developer with 3+ years of hands-on UK experience who is ready to take ownership of complex projects and mentor junior team members. You’ll work across multiple industries — including Data and AI initiatives — and play a pivotal role in shaping our technical solutions.
You’ll work alongside our Head of Technology, contributing independently to the full software development lifecycle while helping to raise the bar across the team. This position offers genuine career progression opportunities within a supportive and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software applications using modern technologies
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, upholding best practices and coding standards across the team
- Take ownership of features and modules from requirements through to deployment
- Lead and participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers
- Troubleshoot and debug complex application issues, optimising performance and reliability
- Architect and implement database solutions, including design and maintenance
- Deploy and maintain cloud-hosted solutions (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
- Drive agile development processes, taking an active role in sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives
- Contribute to technical documentation and support knowledge sharing across the team
- Mentor junior developers and support their professional growth
- Engage with clients confidently, supporting our Managed Service offering with face-to-face interactions where required
- Stay current with emerging technologies and proactively bring new ideas to the team
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ commercial software development experience gained within the UK — this is a strict requirement
- Degree-level education in a relevant discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong proficiency in at least two programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, PHP, C#)
- Solid experience with web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript)
- Proven experience with modern frameworks such as React, Vue, Laravel, or similar
- Strong understanding of databases and SQL
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
- Experience working within agile development methodologies
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills — both written and spoken — including client-facing interactions
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Data and AI technologies (a strong advantage)
- Experience with PHP and the Laravel framework
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Any personal or open-source projects that demonstrate your passion for development
