Software Engineer — Full-Stack (Front-End Focused)

About the company

A fast-growing, fully remote FinTech SaaS company sitting at the intersection of payments and data intelligence — the product helps merchants, and the software platforms they rely on, manage and reduce the cost of processing electronic payments. The team is small, close-knit, and genuinely AI-forward: engineers use agentic development tools day to day, and the culture leans toward mentorship and real autonomy over rigid process. It shows in retention — the engineering team's average tenure runs about four years, with zero voluntary attrition.

About the role

We're hiring a Software Engineer to join a small, high-trust engineering team and take real ownership of the front-end product experience. This is a full-stack role that is heavily front-end weighted in practice — you'll spend most of your time in the UI layer, with occasional backend exposure. You'll be this team's first dedicated front-end hire reporting to the front-end lead, so there's a genuine opportunity to shape how the role and the front-end practice grow from here.

What you'll do

  • Own front-end features end to end — from UI/UX implementation through shipping — using JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and React (Vite as the build tool).
  • Work on outlying UI services that consume shared backend services and present data to users, ramping toward independently handling most non-architectural tickets (form changes, UX changes supporting new backend features) within your first few months.
  • Collaborate with a small backend-leaning engineering team (Java/Scala/C# exposure is a plus, not a requirement) to integrate front-end work with core product services.
  • Use AI development tools as a normal part of your workflow — the team actively encourages this — while being able to verify and stand behind your own understanding of what you ship.
  • 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, with genuine depth in JavaScript/TypeScript and React; Vite experience is a plus.
  • Comfortable working with real autonomy: someone who can take direction, incorporate feedback quickly, and then run with a piece of work without needing close supervision.
  • Adaptable to a small-company pace and ambiguity — prior experience at a smaller, fast-moving company is a plus.
  • Genuine, thoughtful use of AI coding tools: able to use them productively while still catching and correcting their mistakes yourself.
  • Backend exposure (Java, Scala, or C#) is a bonus, not a gate — this is primarily a front-end role.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • 100% remote, with roughly two weeks per year of company travel for in-person team gatherings.
  • Candidates based near Salt Lake City UT, Philadelphia PA, or Chicago IL are preferred, but a standout candidate elsewhere will still be considered.

What to expect in the process

A take-home skills assessment (submitted via GitHub, Bitbucket, or a zip file; AI tool use is welcomed on this step, graded same-day), followed by a small number of conversational interviews with members of the engineering and leadership team, and a final in-person meeting before an offer is signed.
