Role Description The Java Specialist will work closely with the technology and product teams to design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications that support Coast by DK’s global operations and online platforms. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing robust backend services, building and optimizing APIs, and ensuring high performance and scalability of microservices and Jakarta EE-based components. The role also involves collaborating on solution design, applying design patterns, reviewing code for quality and security, and troubleshooting technical issues in production environments. This is a part-time remote role, offering flexibility while requiring reliable availability for meetings, code reviews, and project milestones across distributed teams.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Programming and Software Development, with professional experience in Java-based applications.
• Hands-on expertise in Jakarta EE and Microservices for building scalable, resilient backend services.
• Practical knowledge of Design Patterns and modern software architecture principles.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and integration with third-party services.
• Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time setting and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Background in e-commerce, wholesale, or supply-chain systems is a plus, along with an interest in the home furnishings industry.
