About The Role

Tapestry Solutions, a part of Boeing Global Services, is seeking a Software Engineer in Maryland Heights, MO, to support future franchise programs. This position involves software development for the next-generation Mission Planning system designed for the Department of Defense. The successful candidate will be a vital member of a Scrum team, following the SAFe Agile methodology to produce cutting-edge weapon planning software. The system leverages a microservices architecture, utilizing JavaScript and React for the front-end and primarily C# for back-end services.

The role requires a proactive approach to designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software throughout its lifecycle. The candidate will work closely with product owners and cross-functional teams to translate customer requirements into innovative software solutions, ensuring high reliability and performance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to mission-critical systems that support national security and defense operations.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields, with the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance. A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development is required, particularly with languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, C#, and/or C++. Experience with RESTful API development and usage is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication abilities to collaborate effectively across diverse teams including systems engineers, hardware engineers, and program managers.

Experience with Agile development processes and tools such as Jira, Jira Align, or Azure DevOps is necessary. Proficiency in version control systems like Git and a solid understanding of software testing methodologies, including unit and integration testing, are also required. The ability to clearly document software designs, interfaces, and test plans is vital for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain weapon planning software throughout its lifecycle, ensuring robustness and scalability.
  • Assist the Product Owner in reviewing, analyzing, and translating customer requirements into initial software designs.
  • Support the development, maintenance, enhancement, and optimization of software functionalities, including system integrations.
  • Contribute to the documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and design specifications.
  • Debug and resolve technical issues to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical problems, providing timely solutions to maintain system integrity.
  • Help develop, establish, monitor, and improve software development processes and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of software components.
