Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000 Base + 10% Bonus

General Role Info

As a Technical Lead, you will bring deep full-stack engineering expertise to help steer the technical direction of either the Core or Payments engineering teams. You will reinforce a culture of iterative, autonomous development, with a heavy focus on scalability, security, and high-quality deployment.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work closely with Product Managers, Team Leads, and Staff Developers to design and implement robust front-end applications and back-end APIs. This role blends hands-on production-ready coding with architectural planning, mentorship, and cross-functional leadership.

Main Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Architecture: Design, build, and implement scalable apps and libraries. Discuss strategies, highlight architectural tradeoffs, and manage technical debt/bug prioritization.
  • Product Collaboration: Partner with Product Management to analyze organizational objectives, refine roadmap items into epics, and break them down into actionable backlog tickets.
  • Security & Infrastructure: Implement systems, infrastructure, and third-party integrations with a security-first mindset, adhering to organizational security strategies.
  • Code Quality & Testing: Perform rigorous code reviews, utilize quality metrics to identify testing gaps, and write comprehensive unit/higher-level tests to ensure application stability.
  • DevOps & Integration: Manage and optimize third-party integrations, ensuring performance and security. Foster an iterative deployment culture utilizing DORA metrics to measure cycle times and failure rates.
  • Mentorship & Culture: Coach and mentor development team members, expanding their technical skills. Foster a culture of documentation, research, and continuous improvement.


Must Haves

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience building rich, complex, and scalable APIs (including third-party API integrations).
  • Frontend Expertise: 5+ years of experience building front-end web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • System Design: 2+ years of experience designing scalable and distributed systems, alongside experience architecting/augmenting large software systems.
  • Tech Stack: Extensive full-stack experience working with React, Redux, Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and JavaScript.
  • Tooling & Frameworks: Strong familiarity with JavaScript tools (Webpack, Babel, Storybook) and Unit Testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha).
  • Agile & DevOps: Extensive experience within the Scrum/Agile framework, including familiarity with DORA metrics.
  • Soft Skills: Proven track record of mentoring developers, managing time effectively to meet deadlines, and clearly articulating complex technical ideas to stakeholder groups.
  • Education: University degree/college diploma in a technical field or equivalent practical work experience.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Cypress, Nightwatch, Selenium, or BrowserStack.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Pulumi, and AWS.
  • Experience with containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience building or working with microservices and micro front-ends.
