# Backend-Focused Full Stack Engineer

## About the Role

candidate.fyi is building the AI execution layer for talent operations, powering interview scheduling, recruiting coordination, and candidate experience for companies including CoreWeave, Intercom, and Yelp.

We’re looking for a backend-focused Full Stack Engineer who thinks in systems, cares about product quality, and is excited to build with AI. You’ll work directly with the founding team on the core platform, including the scheduling engine, autonomous AI agents, and enterprise ATS integrations. While backend development is the primary focus, you’ll be comfortable working across the frontend to own features end to end. You’ll also interact directly with customers to understand their needs and help shape the product.

## Key Responsibilities

* Build and scale backend services using **Python and Django** for scheduling, recruiting coordination, and AI agent infrastructure.

* Design and ship autonomous AI agents that support recruiting workflows, including scheduling coordination, candidate communication, and handoff logic.

* Design and maintain REST APIs integrating with enterprise ATS systems and the **React** frontend.

* Develop AI-powered product features using **LLMs** and AI coding tools, including Cursor.

* Optimize database performance, queries, schema design, and scheduling-related workflows across **PostgreSQL**.

* Work across the product stack to take features from backend implementation through frontend delivery.

* Engage directly with customers to understand pain points, validate solutions, and incorporate feedback into product development.

* Identify product and technical issues proactively, propose solutions, and contribute to decisions about how the product should work.

## Required Qualifications

* **2–3 years of hands-on experience with Python and Django**.

* Solid **PostgreSQL** fundamentals, including query optimization, schema design, and indexing.

* Experience with **REST API design and integration patterns**.

* Familiarity with **TypeScript and React**.

* Proficiency with **AI coding tools**, including Cursor.

* Product mindset with an ability to understand the reasoning behind technical and product decisions.

* Ability to work during the **Eastern Time Zone** for team overlap.

## Preferred Qualifications

* Experience building or working with **AI agents, LLM-powered workflows, or agentic systems**.

* Experience working on recruiting, scheduling, ATS integrations, or related talent-operations workflows.
