Onvaca is a vacation rental marketplace for the MENA region, connecting travelers with hosts for seamless, affordable, and trusted stays. We are building the go-to platform for booking homes and short-term rentals across the region, with an experience designed for local travelers and hosts - in their language, their currencies, and their payment methods.

As we scale, we need a Senior Full-Stack Developer to strengthen our platform, improve performance, and ship the features that make booking and hosting effortless. You'll work across the entire stack, from database and APIs to the user-facing web application.

The Role

You will own features end-to-end: designing the data model and backend services, building the APIs, and delivering the frontend that travelers and hosts use every day. We're looking for someone with a strong backend foundation who is equally comfortable shipping polished, performant UI in Next.js / React.

Job Responsibilities: 

Backend Development: 

• Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js and NestJS.
• Design, implement, and optimize REST and GraphQL APIs for efficient, secure data access.
• Design and manage relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL data stores, and use Redis for caching, sessions, and queues — ensuring data integrity, performance, and security.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and data-protection best practices.
• Build integrations with third-party services (payment gateways, maps, messaging, email/SMS).
• Monitor server performance and troubleshoot backend issues in production.

Frontend Development: 

• Build and maintain the web application using Next.js / React for a fast, seamless user experience.
• Develop responsive, reusable, and high-performance UI components.
• Optimize frontend performance for fast load times, rendering, and navigation across devices.
• Integrate APIs with frontend components and handle loading, error, and edge-case states correctly.

Architecture & Engineering Quality 

• Contribute to a scalable system architecture that supports growing traffic and data volumes.
• Write clean, tested, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
• Collaborate with DevOps on deployments, monitoring, and infrastructure improvements.

Collaboration & Leadership: 

• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other developers to define and deliver new features.
• Mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and share best practices.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to keep Onvaca's platform modern and competitive.

Job Requirements: 

Experience & Skills: 

• 5+ years of experience as a Full-Stack Developer with strong expertise in Node.js, NestJS, and Next.js.
• Strong backend foundation: proficiency in NestJS (modules, dependency injection, guards, interceptors) for building scalable, well-structured backend applications.
• Deep understanding of REST and GraphQL APIs, including queries, mutations, and subscriptions.
• Hands-on experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL - optimized queries, indexing, schema design, and migrations (TypeORM or Prisma).
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB) and Redis for caching and session management.
• Solid frontend skills: Next.js, React.js, TypeScript, state management (Redux or similar), HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Experience building APIs and integrating them with frontend applications end-to-end.
• Knowledge of authentication methods including JWT, OAuth, and session-based authentication.
• Proficiency with version control (Git, GitHub/Bitbucket) and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks across the stack.
• Understanding of AWS cloud platforms is a plus.

Nice to Have:

• DevOps knowledge: Docker, AWS (ECS, RDS, S3, SQS, CloudWatch), CI/CD, infrastructure setup, and monitoring.
• Experience with marketplace, booking, travel, or hospitality products.
• Experience integrating payment gateways, especially in Gulf / MENA markets.
• Experience building Arabic / RTL interfaces.
