About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer specializing in backend development to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the technical vision and architecture of our core systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability as we expand our platform. You will act as both a strategic leader and an individual contributor, designing and implementing API layers, improving real-time blockchain data pipelines, and driving innovative projects that support our music economy. Your expertise will directly influence the end-user experience, particularly in areas such as listening parties, Web3 economic tools, community management, governance, and membership functionalities. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of digital music economies while working within a collaborative, remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience developing and maintaining production-grade software systems
• Proficiency in backend development, with a strong understanding of system architecture and design
• Experience with distributed systems and solving complex scalability challenges
• Familiarity with Typescript and GraphQL is preferred
• Experience with blockchain data pipelines and Web3 technologies is a plus
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
• Ability to work effectively within North American time zones (GMT-8 to GMT-5)
• Open-source contributions are advantageous
  
  

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the technical direction and vision for the engineering team
• Architect and develop scalable, high-performance backend systems
• Design, implement, and optimize core API layers used by frontend and external developers
• Enhance real-time blockchain data pipelines to support platform features
• Promote best practices in backend development, including code quality, testing, and documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve deployment, CI/CD processes, logging, and monitoring
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
• Participate in product decision-making to ensure technical feasibility and strategic alignment
