About The Role

As a Software Engineer at Chestnut, you will be integral to building the foundational infrastructure of our AI-native platform. Your work will encompass developing scalable backend services, real-time event pipelines, and user interfaces that support the automation and enhancement of insurance distribution workflows. You will collaborate closely with product and design teams to rapidly deliver impactful features, iterate based on feedback, and ensure high-quality deployment. The role offers an opportunity to influence system architecture, shape technical culture, and contribute to infrastructure improvements such as observability, permissions, and developer tooling. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience building and scaling production systems
  • Proficiency in Go, TypeScript, and React
  • Strong fundamentals in computer science, including system design and architecture
  • Hands-on experience with gRPC, event-driven architecture, and clean, versioned APIs
  • Fluency with containerization and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Temporal, and Dagster
  • Experience with databases including Postgres, DynamoDB, and Snowflake
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-autonomy environments and make informed tradeoffs
  • Curiosity about AI, complex systems, and a motivation to innovate within foundational industry infrastructure

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the core components of our AI-native platform, including backend services, event workflows, and user interfaces
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact features rapidly and iteratively
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of features, from system architecture to deployment and monitoring
  • Shape and scale infrastructure components such as observability tools, permissions management, and developer tooling
  • Participate in designing resilient, scalable, and maintainable systems that support automation and AI integration
  • Stay unblocked, act with urgency, and prioritize tasks that deliver maximum impact
  • Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and the cultivation of a strong engineering culture
