About The Role

As a Senior Full-stack Engineer, you will build and maintain web applications for our Client, a European public sector organization, working across the front end, back-end services, the data layer, and their deployment in the cloud. You will own the features you deliver — their API design, security, and maintainability — including the XML and XSLT authoring and XSL-FO transformation behind the Client's document outputs. The role involves access to sensitive data, so discretion and adherence to security practices are part of the everyday work.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack features, covering front-end interfaces built with modern JavaScript frameworks and back-end services in Java, Node, or PHP
• Take technical ownership of the solutions you deliver, including their performance, security, and maintainability across the application and data layers
• Work with fellow engineers and stakeholders to turn requirements into working software, taking part in multi-lingual discussions and supporting colleagues through code review and knowledge sharing
• Design, build, secure, and document RESTful APIs and web services, including OpenAPI/Swagger documentation and authentication and authorization mechanisms
• Design and optimize relational and non-relational data structures and queries supporting the applications
• Author and maintain XML and XSLT transformations, including XSL-FO for document output
• Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments, provisioning consistent environments with Infrastructure as Code and containerization technologies
• Integrate front-end and back-end builds into CI/CD pipelines, and maintain the established Git workflows
  
  
  

Requirements

• A university degree at master's level (or 5 years of higher education) with a minimum of 10 years of IT professional experience. All fields of study are accepted, including degrees not related to information technology
• Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with knowledge of front-end frameworks and libraries (Angular, React, Vue, Bootstrap) and experience with modern build tools (Webpack, Vite)
• Proficiency in Java, Node, or PHP back-end stacks, with experience of Spring Boot, Hibernate, and REST API development
• Proficiency working with both relational (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle) and non-relational (e.g. MongoDB) databases, including schema design and query optimization
• Experience designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs and web services, including OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, and understanding of authentication and authorization protocols and standards (e.g. OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT)
• Knowledge of cloud services (e.g. AWS, Azure) with experience deploying and managing applications in a cloud environment, experience with IaC tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Bicep) for consistent environment provisioning, and knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with Git workflows (GitFlow, trunk-based), an understanding of legacy systems using SVN, and proficiency in integrating front-end and back-end builds into CI/CD pipelines
• Solid professional experience with XML/XSLT authoring and XSL-FO transformation
• Very good knowledge of English or French, both spoken and written, corresponding to Level B2 or higher (CEFR). EU nationality is required, as the role involves access to sensitive data. Capacity to ramp up quickly on new projects, collaborate within teams and take part in multi-lingual meetings, apply security and cloud best practices, and work both autonomously and as part of a team with a results-oriented mindset
