Founding Engineer

Remote - NYC or SF preferred

Base $150k - $300k + 1-4% Equity

FutureTech Recruitment is partnered with a pre-seed AI x FinTech startup building an AI-native consumer finance platform that automatically manages personal money on behalf of users - across savings, debt, budgeting, and investments. No active management required. The product acts, not just advises, making it a fundamentally different category of financial product.

This is the first engineering hire - a founding team role with 1-4% equity and a clear path to technical leadership as the team scales. You’ll own the architecture, the stack, and every technical decision as the company goes from prototype to MVP. Fully remote now, moving to hybrid in NYC or SF in 12-18 months.

Responsibilities

• Build the MVP end-to-end - web app, mobile app, and the backend systems behind them including secure AI-native infrastructure and money movement
• Integrate fintech vendor technologies - BaaS partners, payments rails, KYC/AML - into core banking, card, and lending infrastructure
• Design the architecture and data stack for an agentic financial services operating system - cloud providers, data resiliency, system design
• Build agentic workflows that plug into real money decisions safely - deterministic, auditable logic with compliance guardrails
• Set the engineering culture, tooling, and technical standards that future engineers will build on

Requirements

• 5+ years in full-stack engineering - built and shipped products from 0-to-1 to real users
• Strong full-stack experience shipping end-to-end - frontend through backend and infra
• Experience at a FinTech startup (e.g. Chime, SoFi, Ramp, Mercury, Stripe calibre)
• Built AI agents or agentic workflows beyond just using off-the-shelf LLM APIs
• Designed systems handling money movement or sensitive, regulated data
• Eager to lead and grow a team - clear path to technical leadership as the company scales
• Promoted at least once at a previous company - demonstrated upward trajectory
• CS or technical degree
• No visa sponsorship required (preferred - flexible for strong candidates)
