About The Role
Miva is seeking a skilled full-stack Web Developer to join its Professional Services team. This client-facing role involves translating business needs into technical solutions, collaborating closely with clients to understand their requirements, and delivering tailored eCommerce storefronts. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain eCommerce websites using Miva's server-side templating language (MVT), HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla
JavaScript, ensuring seamless integration with various external systems such as ERPs, CRMs, payment gateways, and analytics platforms through
REST, SOAP, and legacy XML services. The role encompasses large-scale development projects, ongoing site maintenance, troubleshooting, and discovery phases across multiple client accounts. The developer will work in tandem with Project Managers and cross-functional teams within Miva to meet project scope, deadlines, and quality standards.
Key responsibilities include estimating and executing development tasks based on client requirements, customizing storefronts, optimizing performance and SEO, implementing accessibility standards, configuring analytics, and supporting merchandising functionalities. The role also involves writing clean, maintainable code, participating in code reviews, managing deployment procedures, and communicating project status effectively. The successful candidate will be proactive in identifying potential risks and scope changes, ensuring high-quality delivery aligned with client expectations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional web development experience, with at least 1 year in eCommerce
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (including preprocessors like Sass/LESS), and vanilla JavaScript (ES6+)
- Experience with PHP in a web development context
- Knowledge of SQL-based databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
- Strong understanding of DOM manipulation and client-side scripting
- Ability to work within project scope, timelines, and platform constraints in a client-facing environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, asynchronous team setting
Responsibilities
- Scope, estimate, and execute development tasks based on client requirements and approved SOWs
- Develop, customize, and maintain eCommerce storefronts using Miva's template language, HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript
- Maintain deep platform knowledge to optimize store configurations within the Miva admin interface
- Build and support integrations between Miva stores and external systems such as ERPs, CRMs, payment providers, and analytics platforms using REST, SOAP, and XML services
- Troubleshoot and resolve frontend, backend, and configuration issues across the platform and connected systems
- Optimize storefront performance, SEO, accessibility, and cross-browser/device compatibility with a mobile-first approach
- Configure eCommerce analytics and GA4 tracking using GTM
- Implement merchandising solutions including cross-selling, dynamic listings, personalization, and promotional rules
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code; participate in code reviews and QA processes
- Follow deployment procedures and manage releases across multiple client environments
- Track time, report project status, and communicate scope risks or blockers effectively
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success
