About Nextrial NexTrial uses AI orchestration infrastructure to compress clinical trial activation from 120 days to 30–45 days across regulatory bodies such as the FDA, ANVISA, and CDSCO. We are building the intelligence layer that makes clinical trial startup predictable, turning clinical protocols and regulatory requirements into verified, audit-ready outputs.

Role Overview We are hiring two Build Engineers for a 6-month contract. Both roles share the same core profile but have different centers of gravity. Please indicate which seat fits your expertise, or if you can cover both.

Seat 1: Application and Orchestration

• Build the agent chain and data flow at the heart of the platform.
• Focus on Python, asynchronous programming, agent frameworks (LangGraph or similar), PostgreSQL, and pgvector.

Seat 2: Platform and Verification

• Own the cloud environment and the test harness that proves the system works.
• Focus on Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Secret Manager, Artifact Registry), Terraform, Docker, and CI/CD.

How We Work

• Spec-Driven Development (SDD): We write the specification first. The spec is the source of truth; code is downstream. You must read the spec before writing anything.
• AI-Native Workflow: We use modern AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code) as real build capacity. You direct the tools, review outputs critically, and verify results. The primary skill is driving tooling and verifying accuracy, not just writing code manually.
• Discovery Before Build: You must read the existing codebase as ground truth before scoping or estimating.
• Honest Engineering: We do not compromise on correctness. Broken items are diagnosed to the root and fixed or flagged. Tests are not faked, and shortcuts are not hidden.
• Focused and Async: We move deliberately with clear specs and stopping points.

Requirements

• Strong Python Skills: Ability to write clean code and read others’ code comfortably.
• Public Code Portfolio: A public GitHub, open-source contributions, or a portfolio of real projects. We prioritize seeing how you build over reading a CV.
• AI Tool Fluency: Genuine experience building with AI development tools, with clear opinions on their use.
• Analytical Approach: You read before you change and prioritize understanding the existing system.
• Independent Work: Comfortable working from written specs with defined checkpoints across time zones.
• English Proficiency: Non-negotiable. Clear collaboration in writing and on calls is required.
• Startup Mindset: You own outcomes, handle ambiguity, and prioritize verified shipping over perfect conditions.
• Seat 2 Specific: Solid Google Cloud and Infrastructure-as-Code experience.

Nice to Have

• Experience with document parsing, model serving, or LoRA work.
• Background in regulated fields (health, finance, etc.) with audit trail experience.

Logistics & Application Process

• Contract Details: 6 months, full-time, remote.
• Time Zone: Substantial daily overlap with US Eastern Time (4–5 hours). Candidates outside the Americas may need to work evening schedules on their local time.
• Paid Trial: The first week is a paid trial on real work to determine fit.
