Backend Developer

We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer to join our client's team, with expertise in backend development, API integration, database management, and building secure and scalable services.

In this role, you will work closely with the project team to develop and maintain backend systems, integrate third-party platforms, and ensure the reliability, security, and performance of digital solutions.

Job Type: Full-time

Working Mode: Remote

Working Hours: Australian business hours (3:30 AM - 12:30 PM Sri Lankan Time)

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, REST APIs, and system integrations based on project requirements.
• Manage database design, SQL queries, and performance optimisation for assigned modules.
• Implement authentication, authorisation, and secure data-handling practices.
• Integrate third-party platforms and systems, including CRM, ERP, and Microsoft 365 solutions.
• Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Support deployments, troubleshoot production issues, and resolve technical problems.
• Document technical solutions and communicate development decisions clearly with the project team.

Key Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• Proficiency in at least one server-side programming language, such as .NET/C#, Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Strong SQL and relational database experience, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar databases.
• Hands-on experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience using Git for version control.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with confidence in client-facing discussions and meetings.
• Previous experience working with Australian or other international clients is an advantage.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience integrating Microsoft 365, Zoho, CRM platforms, or similar systems.
• Exposure to OutSystems or other low-code development platforms.
• Understanding of security practices for government, education, or enterprise projects.
• Microsoft Azure or AWS developer certifications.
