Frontend Engineer | AI-Native Productivity Start-up | Remote-first (London office available)

More than 5 billion people use basic email, notes, tasks and calendar apps that aren't AI-native. Our client is a well-funded, AI-native start-up building proactive applications for people who aren't used to complex prompting. The focus is reliable long-running workflows, persistent context and real-world task completion. The goal is to organise anyone's life.

The role

You will build the core web experiences across Chat, Notes, Calendar, Docs and Sheets. You'll own complex, highly interactive product surfaces from architecture through implementation, working closely with product, design, backend and AI engineers so that AI is a native part of how users communicate, write, organise and work.

What you'll own

• Major web experiences across Chat, Notes, Calendar, Docs and Sheets
• Real-time messaging, collaborative editing, rich-text editing, scheduling, tables and spreadsheets
• Reusable frontend architecture and components shared across the company's applications
• Streaming AI responses, proactive actions and model-driven experiences built directly into product workflows
• Frontend performance, responsiveness, reliability and accessibility across browsers and devices
• Taking ideas from prototype to production quickly, alongside product and design

What we're looking for

• Strong experience building complex, production web applications in React and TypeScript
• Deep understanding of frontend architecture, state management, browser APIs and performance
• Experience building highly interactive products: chat, collaboration, productivity, document editing, calendars or workspaces
• Experience with real-time systems, WebSockets, streaming APIs or collaborative interfaces
• Strong product and UI judgment, with attention to interaction detail
• Able to own features independently from technical design through to production
