About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Fintech Software Engineer to join our growing technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performance financial technology solutions. You will work closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional engineering teams to build products that enhance digital payments, lending, banking, and financial services.


Key Responsibilities

Software Development

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain fintech applications and services.
  • Build scalable APIs, microservices, and backend systems that support financial transactions.
  • Develop secure and reliable integrations with payment gateways, banks, mobile money platforms, and third-party financial service providers.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices.

System Architecture & Performance

  • Participate in system design and architecture decisions.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production systems and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Contribute to cloud infrastructure and DevOps initiatives.


Security & Compliance

  • Implement secure coding standards and data protection measures.
  • Ensure compliance with financial industry regulations and standards.
  • Conduct code reviews and vulnerability assessments.
  • Support audit and compliance requirements where applicable.


Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, QA Engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.


Innovation

  • Stay up to date with emerging fintech technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Recommend and implement technology improvements that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4–7 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably within fintech, banking, payments, or financial services.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as:
  • Java
  • Python
  • C#
  • Node.js
  • Go
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience using Git and modern software development workflows.


Preferred Qualification

  • Experience integrating with payment processors, card networks, banking APIs, or mobile money platforms.
  • Knowledge of digital payments, lending systems, core banking platforms, or financial transaction processing.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Familiarity with Open Banking APIs and fintech regulatory requirements.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud technologies or software engineering are an added advantage.
