About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Developer to join Vanguard’s dynamic technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex applications and database solutions that support Vanguard’s strategic objectives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, employing best practices in software development and system architecture. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior staff, and contribute to innovative projects that impact millions of clients worldwide. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in full-stack development, cloud technologies, and agile methodologies, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of relevant work experience, including at least one year of hands-on development experience.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Proficiency with Agile methodologies, Confluence, JIRA, and a strong aptitude for process improvement.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Expertise in UI development, server-side development, system integration, and API management, with skills in optimization, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Must-have technical skills include Angular, Node.js, TypeScript, Java, Spring Boot, Python, Github, CI/CD pipelines, TDD/BDD practices, and AWS cloud services such as CloudFormation, ECS, Fargate, S3, Lambda, IAM, SNS, SQS, and Kafka.
• Nice-to-have skills include Github Workflow, DynamoDB, Splunk, Honeycomb, Stencil, AWS Bedrock, Arize, and Claude.
• Experience mentoring engineers, onboarding new hires, leading knowledge-sharing sessions, or acting as a technical resource is a plus, though not mandatory.
  
  

Responsibilities

Provide advanced system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases, ensuring integration with third-party products where applicable.

Translate complex technical specifications into high-quality code for new projects or enhancements, utilizing software development best practices to support automation and efficiency.

Manage the deployment of code into development, testing, and production environments, adhering to project schedules and quality standards. Provide ongoing production support and submit change control requests with comprehensive documentation.

Maintain a thorough understanding of software development methodologies, architecture standards, and security policies, ensuring all deliverables meet organizational and compliance requirements.

Participate in design, code reviews, and testing throughout the development lifecycle to identify and resolve issues early. Communicate technical considerations effectively during meetings with internal clients and team members.

Develop a deep understanding of Vanguard’s business functions and technology landscape, including interfaces with various systems and applications.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicating system issues and solutions at appropriate technical levels to facilitate effective problem-solving and project execution.

Ensure compliance with all relevant information security policies and procedures, verifying that all deliverables adhere to security standards.

Engage in special projects, provide technical guidance, and perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
