Senior Software Engineer

Harrington Starr is working with an established global technology company specialising in market data and subscription solutions to recruit an experienced Software Engineer for its Belfast-based team. The business is looking for a capable Java developer who can take ownership of technical projects and contribute to the development of scalable, high-quality applications. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with solid commercial experience who is looking to take on greater responsibility, strengthen their Java expertise and gain exposure to innovative AI-driven projects within financial technology.

Key responsibilities:

- Strong experience developing, maintaining and improving Java applications

- Experience working with microservices and designing scalable software solutions

- Ability to contribute across the full development stack, with knowledge of React being advantageous

- Experience building and integrating APIs, particularly within market data or financial technology environments

- An interest in emerging AI technologies, with exposure to AI-related development projects being beneficial

- Confidence taking ownership of development tasks and contributing to technical decisions

- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams
