Requirements

At Aftershock, we are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer who combines strong engineering judgment with clear, confident communication. This role is currently 100% remote, with no country requirement. You will help turn business goals into reliable software and collaborate with our clients and team.

• Fluent, advanced English, spoken and written. You can communicate clearly with clients and teammates, ask precise questions, explain technical tradeoffs and communicate progress and risks. Native-level English is not required.
• Strong production experience with React, Next.js and TypeScript/JavaScript. You understand component design, hooks, state management, data fetching, server and client rendering, and caching, and can choose the right approach for the product.
• Solid frontend fundamentals. You build responsive, accessible interfaces and understand browser behavior, performance and technical SEO.
• Backend engineering with Node.js. You design maintainable APIs and integrations with sound authentication, authorization, input validation and error handling.
• SQL and NoSQL fundamentals. You can model data, reason about indexes, transactions and query performance, and work with PostgreSQL, MySQL or MongoDB according to the project. We do not expect equal expertise in every database.
• Engineering depth beyond frameworks. You make pragmatic architecture decisions, write meaningful automated tests, review code, work with Git and CI/CD, and troubleshoot production issues with security and maintainability in mind.
• Ownership and collaboration. You can break down ambiguous requirements, estimate work, flag risks early and guide delivery alongside designers, project managers and other engineers.
  
  

Helpful, but not required: Previous experience working with North American clients or leading projects is a plus, not a requirement. Other helpful experience includes React Native, agency work, and familiarity with Vercel, Render or DigitalOcean Spaces.

Responsibilities

• Own features and projects from discovery and technical planning through implementation, testing, release and ongoing improvement.
• Build and maintain web applications with React, Next.js and Node.js, choosing solutions that balance user experience, performance, security and delivery needs.
• Communicate directly with clients in English: clarify requirements, present options, explain decisions and keep expectations aligned.
• Turn business needs into clear technical plans, identify dependencies and surface blockers before they affect delivery.
• Raise engineering quality through thoughtful code reviews, useful documentation, automated tests and collaboration with the team.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate research, implementation and debugging while protecting client data and reviewing, testing and taking responsibility for every shipped result.
