Role Description

The QA Engineer / Software Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications through comprehensive testing, quality assurance processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role works closely with development, product, and business teams to identify defects, validate functionality, and ensure software products meet business requirements and quality standards before release.

Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and executing test plans, test cases, and test scripts for functional, integration, system, regression, usability, API, and performance testing. The role performs both manual and automated testing to verify application functionality, system stability, and compatibility across different platforms and environments.

The position identifies, documents, prioritizes, and tracks software defects using defect management tools. It performs root cause analysis, collaborates with developers to resolve issues, verifies bug fixes, and conducts regression testing to ensure software changes do not impact existing functionality.

The role participates throughout the software development lifecycle by reviewing business and technical requirements, contributing to test strategies, supporting release validation, and promoting quality-first development practices. It also contributes to test automation, CI/CD pipelines, quality metrics, and continuous improvement of testing processes and standards.

Collaboration with software engineers, product managers, business analysts, UX designers, and cross-functional stakeholders is essential to ensure products meet functional, performance, security, and usability expectations. The role also prepares testing documentation, quality reports, test summaries, and release readiness assessments to support informed project decisions.

Qualifications

Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, quality assurance principles, software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile development, and defect management processes. Ability to design and execute comprehensive manual and automated test strategies.

Proficiency in test management tools, bug tracking systems, automation frameworks, API testing tools, and software testing techniques. Familiarity with version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, performance testing, and database testing is an advantage.

Knowledge of web applications, mobile applications, RESTful APIs, databases, system integration, software architecture, and software quality standards.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify defects, analyze root causes, evaluate software quality, and recommend effective corrective actions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear testing documentation, communicate technical findings effectively, and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple testing activities while delivering high-quality software in a fast-paced and collaborative development environment.
