About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Web Applications Developer to join our dynamic digital commerce team. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical authority for our ecommerce platform, responsible for platform development, administration, infrastructure health, integrations, and site performance across our Magento Open Source storefront. Reporting directly to the Director of Digital Commerce, you will play a critical role in ensuring our online store operates smoothly, securely, and efficiently, delivering an exceptional experience to our customers.

This is a hands-on position that requires a blend of front-end and back-end development, platform administration, and technical leadership. You will collaborate with external development partners, manage complex integrations, optimize site performance, and ensure compliance with firearms commerce regulations. Your expertise will directly impact our ability to serve our customers effectively and uphold our reputation for quality and reliability in the ecommerce space.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years of experience in building and managing ecommerce websites, with substantial hands-on experience on mature commerce platforms, particularly Magento Open Source. A strong foundation in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3/SCSS is essential, along with familiarity in writing and deploying production-ready front-end code in both legacy and modern frameworks.

Experience administering ecommerce platforms—including managing promotions, user permissions, integrations, and checkout configurations—is required. Comfort working within Linux-based cloud environments, especially AWS, is necessary. Candidates should have proven experience with API integrations via REST, GraphQL, and webhooks, as well as managing CDN and edge platforms like Cloudflare or CloudFront.

Additional qualifications include hands-on analytics implementation, experience with Git-based workflows, server-side development skills (preferably PHP), and the ability to troubleshoot production issues effectively. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience, is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a self-directed working style, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a remote work environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the customer-facing Magento Open Source storefront, including theme and template development, layout XML, RequireJS, Knockout.js, and React components.
• Enhance the 3D product experience using Three.js while ensuring optimal performance for ecommerce operations.
• Administer the Magento platform, including configuration, user management, promotions, and integrations, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
• Manage platform infrastructure, including server deployment, cache and index management, security patching, and staging environments, primarily within Linux-based cloud environments.
• Oversee site performance metrics, focusing on Core Web Vitals, loading times, and overall site responsiveness, implementing improvements as needed.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot integrations with various platforms supporting email marketing, customer support, ERP, shipping, tax, and fraud prevention using REST APIs, GraphQL, and webhooks.
• Lead external development partners by defining project scope, reviewing code, and ensuring quality standards are met for all deliverables.
• Implement and monitor analytics tools such as Google Tag Manager, GA4, Microsoft Clarity, and server-side tagging to ensure accurate data collection for business insights.
• Maintain compliance with firearms ecommerce regulations, including age verification, FFL routing, state-specific shipping restrictions, and PCI DSS standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and operational efficiency, aligning with company values and policies.
