About The Role

Nightwing is currently seeking a Full Stack Web Application Developer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team in Herndon, VA. This pivotal role involves working on a suite of services designed to provide users with tools that automate a broad spectrum of enterprise-wide applications and data-centric mission management systems. As part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Software Developers, ETL Developers, and Data Scientists, the successful candidate will be instrumental in enhancing existing production applications and developing new web services on a routine, agile development cadence. This position offers a unique opportunity for experienced software developers to expand their expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), contributing to cutting-edge projects that impact national security and intelligence operations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, with a minimum of six years of relevant experience; a master's degree can substitute for an additional two years of experience. Mandatory skills include demonstrated experience working within Agile development teams following Scrum and Kanban methodologies, proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and GitHub, and extensive web application development experience using frameworks such as Angular, React, or JavaScript, with Java Spring being a plus. Candidates should have at least 8-10 years of experience in web development, 6-8 years working in Linux environments, and 4-6 years deploying applications in Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) or other cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Oracle, or Google Cloud. Additional qualifications include 2-3 years of experience with search and analytic tools like ElasticSearch, Solr, or OpenSearch, and ETL processes involving large structured and unstructured data sets. Strong programming skills in Object-Oriented languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, or SQL are essential, along with expertise in containerization technologies like Docker or Podman. Candidates must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Integrate AI and machine learning technologies into production web applications to enhance functionality and performance.
• Participate actively in iterative software development cycles, adhering to Agile methodologies and contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Design, develop, and conduct unit testing of code for production systems, ensuring robustness and reliability.
• Create rapid prototypes to validate requirements and inform design decisions, facilitating stakeholder engagement.
• Provide demonstrations and detailed walkthroughs of features to diverse audiences, including technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
• Engage with stakeholders to analyze requirements, develop user stories, and translate these into actionable development tasks.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including application workflows, integrations, and compliance procedures.
• Optimize application performance, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability in a dynamic operational environment.
• Collaborate with data scientists and data engineers to incorporate analytical tools and methodologies into web applications.
• Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies, including machine learning frameworks and natural language processing tools.
