About the Role

We are looking for a Full Stack AI Engineer for a start-up client based out of San Francisco, CA USA.

• Remote contract engagement.
• Availability for 40 hours/week with reasonable overlap (2+ hours) with US PST working hours for regular syncs and connect
• The engineer should be able to work independently, with progress discussions every one to two days.

Start-up client builds AI software that helps venture capital and growth equity investors perform due diligence. The product turns data-room documents and other company evidence into source-backed analysis that helps investors decide what to believe, question, and investigate further.

Client is looking for one hands-on, product-oriented full-stack engineer who can help turn the existing product into a reliable working application. This person should be comfortable taking features end-to-end, from requirements through implementation, testing, and deployment.

What the engineer will work on

• Build product features end-to-end across the backend and frontend.
• Develop Python APIs, data workflows, and document-processing systems.
• Build and refine the user interface using TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Build LLM and agentic workflows involving structured outputs, retrieval, tool use, evaluations, and observability.
• Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and ChatGPT effectively while reviewing, understanding, and being responsible for the resulting code.
• Handle deployment, debugging, testing, and basic application monitoring.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and keep the codebase understandable and maintainable.
• Work independently, communicate progress clearly, and raise blockers early.

Required experience

• Typically 3-6 years of software engineering experience, although demonstrated ability matters more than a specific number of years.
• Strong Python backend development.
• Working experience with TypeScript and React; Next.js experience is preferred.
• Experience building APIs, working with databases, and shipping complete product features.
• Practical experience building production LLM-powered applications or agentic workflows, beyond basic chatbot prototypes.
• Evidence of personally taking features from requirements through implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Comfortable working in an early-stage environment with changing requirements, ambiguity, and substantial responsibility and autonomy.

Helpful, but not required

• Voice-agent or conversational-AI experience.
• Experience with LangGraph, LangFuse, or similar agent, tracing, and evaluation tooling.
• Experience with document processing, retrieval systems, financial data, fintech, or enterprise workflows.
• Experience deploying and operating applications on a major cloud provider.
