In the Genospace team at Ontada, our mission is to be the leading information platform for applied precision medicine. Our interdisciplinary team merges genomics, healthcare,
data analytics,
web development, and
cloud computing to serve research, clinical development, pathology, and clinical care customers working with high-dimensional genomic and biomedical
data. Many of the most advanced organizations in precision medicine are powered by Genospace.
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer who is passionate about solving novel problems and building innovative solutions within our Genospace software platform. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development, enhancement, and support of our
cloud-hosted
web applications that are used globally to improve patient outcomes and advance medical research.
Your work will directly impact healthcare providers, researchers, and patients by enabling more personalized and effective treatment options. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of healthcare technology, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that make a difference in the world of medicine.
Qualifications
Typically, candidates should possess a minimum of 2+ years of relevant professional experience in software development. A strong foundation in building
web applications or
data processing systems is essential. Familiarity with
web technologies and proficiency in at least one common programming language are required.
Experience with front-end and back-end technologies, as well as
database management, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to design software solutions that meet both functional and technical requirements and communicate their designs effectively. Critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and collaboration skills are vital for success in this role.
Additional helpful qualifications include an interest in healthcare and clinical research, familiarity with our technology stack (Vue.js,
Java, Groovy, Grails, Kafka, Micronaut, MongoDB, Elasticsearch), and academic or professional experience in related fields such as biology, genomics, or healthcare.
A 4-year degree in
computer science, engineering, or a related STEM field or equivalent experience is required. Candidates should also be comfortable working in a dynamic, collaborative environment and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy features for our web-based, cloud-hosted applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, data scientists, and designers, to understand requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering practices and processes.
- Maintain and support existing applications, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements to improve functionality and user experience.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to ensure our platform remains at the cutting edge of healthcare informatics.
- Contribute to documentation, testing, and deployment procedures to streamline development workflows.
