Role Description This is a part-time remote role for a Software Engineer supporting the Saudi Arabia FIFA World Cup 2034™️ digital and technical initiatives. The Software Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain scalable back-end services and APIs that support platforms such as fan engagement tools, ticketing, data services, and internal applications. Responsibilities include writing clean, maintainable code, implementing object-oriented solutions, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as product, design, and operations. The role also involves participating in code reviews, contributing to technical documentation, and helping improve performance, reliability, and security of systems that must operate at global scale. The successful candidate will work independently in a distributed environment while aligning with shared standards, sprint plans, and release processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Computer Science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience building production-grade applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.
  • Solid understanding and practical use of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, TypeScript).
  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, multicultural, and cross-functional team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience building scalable, secure systems for high-traffic or event-based platforms is an advantage.
  • Interest in global sports, major events, or fan-facing digital products is a plus.
