Opportunity Overview

Our client is a performance-focused Shopify agency working with high-growth DTC brands across CRO, design, and custom theme builds. This is a lead-level replacement role, as the team's previous lead developer has given notice, so the client wants someone with higher-than-typical experience, ideally already leading a team. Familiarity with the Horizon Shopify theme framework is mandatory.

Role Description

You'll build across a variety of work, including full Shopify theme builds, section development, landing pages, and CRO test implementations. You'll translate high-fidelity Figma designs into accurate, production-ready Shopify themes and sections, working primarily within Shopify 2.0 and the Horizon framework. Your builds should support experimentation and iteration, balancing CRO, performance, and scalability. You'll lead development delivery as the team's senior developer, collaborating closely with CRO specialists, designers, and account managers to ensure implementations match design intent.

Key Responsibilities

• Theme and Section Builds - Build full Shopify theme builds, sections, landing pages, and CRO test implementations.
• Design Translation - Translate high-fidelity Figma designs into accurate, production-ready Shopify themes and sections.
• CRO-Focused Development - Build with CRO, performance, and scalability in mind, supporting experimentation and iteration.
• Shopify 2.0 and Horizon - Work primarily within Shopify 2.0 and the Horizon framework, applying modern best practices.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with CRO specialists, designers, and account managers to match design intent.
• Lead Development Delivery - Lead the team's development delivery as senior developer, replacing an outgoing lead.

Minimum Qualifications

• Shopify Development Experience - 6+ years as a Shopify developer, at a lead or senior level.
• Horizon Framework Familiarity - Hands-on familiarity with the Horizon Shopify theme framework, mandatory for this role.
• Liquid and Shopify 2.0 - Strong knowledge of Shopify Liquid and Shopify 2.0 architecture and best practices.
• Version Control Practices - Experience with GitHub and non-destructive, version-controlled development workflows.
• Design and CRO Collaboration - Proven experience translating Figma designs faithfully alongside designers and CRO teams.
• Team Leadership - Ideally already leading a development team, ready to step into this outgoing lead's role.

Bonus Qualifications

• AI-Assisted Development - Active experience with AI-assisted workflows, such as Cursor or Claude.
• DTC Brand Exposure - Experience working across a diverse range of high-profile DTC brands.
• UK or European Based - UK-based candidates preferred; European candidates also welcome to apply.
