Hiring: Senior Full Stack Developer (Contract)-Remote with Public Sector


Location: Primarily Remote (within Canada) – Occasional onsite meetings in Edmonton, AB

Engagement Type: Contract

Start Date: August 1st, 2026 (tentative, as provided)

End Date: July 31, 2027 (with 2 years extension possible)

Compensation: $80.00/hr T4 – $100.00/hr INC


About the Opportunity

Stafingo is supporting a large-scale digital transformation initiative for a government client in Alberta. We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to join cross-functional agile teams delivering modern, user-centric digital services.


This role will contribute to the modernization of public-facing applications, service delivery platforms, and internal digital systems that support citizens across Alberta. The environment emphasizes modern engineering practices, accessibility, scalability, and continuous delivery.


Role Overview

The Full Stack Developer will work as part of agile product teams focused on designing, building, and enhancing enterprise-grade digital services. The role spans frontend development, backend integration, API design, and collaboration with UX/design and product teams.


You will contribute to both new development and the modernization of legacy systems into scalable, cloud-enabled digital services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications for public sector digital services
  • Build responsive, accessible, and user-friendly frontend applications using modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services
  • Participate in solution design, technical discovery, and architecture discussions
  • Integrate frontend applications with backend systems and data services
  • Contribute to the modernization of legacy systems through incremental transformation
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and solution designs
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Support QA/UAT activities, defect resolution, and release management
  • Perform troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis for production issues
  • Collaborate with UX designers, product owners, and cross-functional technical teams
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and accessibility requirements


Must-Have Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience as a Full Stack Developer in agile environments
  • 5+ years of experience with Git and collaborative source control
  • 3+ years of experience with modern frontend frameworks (Angular, React, or Vue.js)
  • Strong experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery
  • Experience building Single Page Applications (SPA)
  • 3+ years of experience with RESTful APIs and JSON-based integrations
  • 3+ years experience with automated unit and integration testing
  • 3+ years of experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases
  • Experience working on production-grade enterprise applications
  • Experience working in agile delivery teams
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines


Nice-to-Have Requirements

  • Experience with C# .NET Core, Node.js (NestJS/Express), or Python (Django)
  • Experience transforming legacy systems into modern digital platforms
  • Experience with Government or public sector digital services
  • Experience with design systems, UX collaboration, or human-centred design
  • Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0/2.1 AA, AODA, WAI-ARIA)
  • Experience using AI tools or generative AI workflows in development
  • Experience with cloud environments (Azure or AWS)
  • Experience with DevOps tooling and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
