About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Siemens TIA Portal Software Engineer to join Owen Daniels on an initial three-month contract basis. This role is based in Essex and is outside IR35. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting automation and control projects within manufacturing and industrial environments. The position involves developing, commissioning, and troubleshooting PLC and HMI systems, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance of automation solutions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in Siemens TIA Portal programming, industrial automation, and system commissioning, with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with Siemens TIA Portal software, including PLC and HMI development.
• Strong background in PLC programming, particularly with S7-1200 and S7-1500 series controllers.
• Experience with factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning of automation systems.
• Solid understanding of industrial networks such as PROFINET and PROFIBUS.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system faults efficiently.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Relevant certifications or training in industrial automation are advantageous.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement PLC programs using Siemens TIA Portal for various automation projects.
• Develop and configure HMI systems using WinCC to facilitate operator interaction with automated processes.
• Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and system commissioning activities.
• Perform fault finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to resolve system issues promptly.
• Configure and optimize industrial network systems, including PROFINET and PROFIBUS protocols.
• Collaborate with project teams and clients to understand project specifications and deliver tailored automation solutions.
• Document system configurations, programming logic, and commissioning procedures meticulously.
• Provide technical support during system integration and operational phases.
