Software Engineer, Internal Tools (Backend-Leaning Full Stack)

Sherlock · Full-time · Remote (US) · $3,000–$5,000/month + equity

Sherlocksearch.com

Sherlock is an AI face search application. upload a photo of someone's face, get their social profiles and digital footprint. We launched on iOS and hit #3 in Utilities and #74 across all free apps, with 220MM social views and 800k downloads in our first five months. We've since moved the product to the web. Bootstrapped and profitable.

The role

This is not a consumer product role. You won't work on the app users see.

You'll own the internal platform the company runs on — the tools we use to recruit, onboard, manage, and pay our creator network, track content performance and attribution, and run financials. It's a Next.js + React + Supabase command center, a handful of smaller internal apps and webhook-driven Slack bots wired into Notion and Supabase.

This is our second engineering hire so you would have plenty of responsibility and work directly with the founders.

Day to day

• Ship features and fix bugs across our internal platforms

• Maintain and extend cron jobs, webhooks, and API integrations

• Improve data accuracy in attribution, revenue tracking, and scraping pipelines

• Build new internal tools as our needs evolve

• Surface improvements proactively — you're not a ticket-taker

Stack

TypeScript · React · Next.js · Vite · Supabase (Postgres, Edge Functions, Storage) · Vercel · Tailwind · PostHog · Node.js

Who you are

• You ship fast and iterate. Speed is the priority.

• You're AI-native — Claude, Codex, or similar in your daily workflow

Backend-leaning, but comfortable full stack

• Strong TypeScript and React. Supabase a plus.

• You can drop into an unfamiliar codebase and contribute quickly

• High agency — if something's unclear, you figure it out or ask. You don't stall.

• Comfortable in an unstructured environment where you're trusted to make decisions

Details

$3,000–$5,000/month + equity, based on experience. Minimum 30 hrs/week. Remote. Daily async Slack updates and 2x/week call with team.
