About The Role
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer II to join our Core Services team, which is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational platform that manages authentication, authorization, identity, and account management across Censys. In this role, you will work closely with experienced engineers to enhance our role-based access control systems, implement new capabilities such as group management, and develop event pipelines. You will play a vital role in evolving our public
API and ensuring the
security and scalability of our platform. The ideal candidate will possess strong
Go programming skills, a drive for ownership, and the ability to see projects through from initial design to production deployment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge platform that impacts global
security and internet intelligence, all within a fully remote setting within the United States or Canada.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of software engineering experience
- Proficiency in Go (Golang) with clean, idiomatic coding practices
- Experience building and deploying backend services in cloud environments such as GCP or AWS
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality features from development to production
- Strong ownership mentality with proactive problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Experience with microservices architecture, APIs, and error handling
- Familiarity with identity concepts such as SSO, SAML, OIDC, or SCIM is a plus
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and distributed systems
- Understanding of security and correctness properties in system design
Responsibilities
- Enhance and maintain role-based access control systems, developing fine-grained permission models for enterprise clients
- Design and implement new platform features including group management and expanded authentication capabilities (SAML / SCIM)
- Develop clean, efficient, and well-tested microservices with clear APIs and robust error handling
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to clarify requirements, make technical decisions, and deliver features on schedule
- Participate in on-call rotations, addressing service incidents and ensuring system reliability
- Improve developer experience for internal teams and external API consumers as platform capabilities evolve
- Contribute to the security, scalability, and performance of core platform services
