Senior Full Stack Engineer | Join the team behind a $3.2B smart-home exit, now taking on food waste | SF Bay Area (Hybrid) | $185K–$210K base
We've partnered with a Bay Area hardware company on one of the most exciting missions in climate tech: eliminating waste, starting with food. The pedigree is serious: the founders previously created one of the defining products of the smart-home era, a company acquired by Google for around $3.2 billion, and they have brought the same design obsession to food waste. The market has responded. Their home product is already in tens of thousands of kitchens, and with a commercial launch landing in 2027, next year is set for real growth. They are backed at Series C by a heavyweight group of climate and tech investors, including Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Amazon's Climate Pledge Fund.
This is a senior individual-contributor seat with real technical leadership attached, reporting to the Director of Software Engineering. You'll set the direction for your project area, write the code that anchors it, and lift the engineers around you. There's no frontend or backend divide here: everyone builds full stack and leans to their strengths, and teams form around projects, not layers. You'll go deep on one project, then rotate onto new parts of the codebase over time. What sets the team apart is how they build. AI-assisted development is central, not a novelty, and as a senior hire you'll be expected to use tools like Claude Code fluently and raise the bar for how everyone else does. And because it's a hardware company, your code runs on real devices, built alongside the firmware engineers who make them.
