Role Description This is a part-time, remote role for a Java Specialist. The Java Specialist will design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications that support content delivery and internal systems related to Expo 2025 information. Day-to-day tasks include implementing and optimizing Jakarta EE components, building and maintaining microservices, and applying design patterns to ensure scalable and maintainable code. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to refine requirements, troubleshoot issues, and improve application performance and reliability. The Java Specialist will also participate in code reviews, write technical documentation, and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices.

Qualifications

• Strong Software Development and Programming skills with a focus on Java, including clean, maintainable, and testable code.
• Hands-on experience with Jakarta EE, including building and integrating enterprise-level components and services.
• Practical experience designing and implementing Microservices architectures, including RESTful APIs and service integration.
• Applied knowledge of Design Patterns to create robust, scalable, and reusable solutions.
• Familiarity with modern development tools and practices (e.g., Git, CI/CD, unit testing frameworks).
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage part-time schedules, and communicate clearly with distributed teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Understanding of cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
