About The Role

Babylist is seeking experienced Senior Software Engineers to join their dynamic engineering team. As a key contributor, you will work on systems that support a high-volume marketplace generating over $1 billion in GMV, serving millions of families each year. Your responsibilities will span across developing and maintaining a diverse set of platforms, including advertising systems, commerce tools, registry management, and health-related products. During the interview process, candidates will have the opportunity to learn about various teams and find the best fit based on their skills and interests. Qualifications

  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience as a software engineer, delivering end-to-end solutions that drive business growth.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment and lead critical projects to unlock new capabilities.
  • Experience in testing, monitoring, and maintaining production software systems with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong programming skills in React and Ruby on Rails, or similar technology stacks such as Python/Django or JavaScript/Node.js, with a keen interest in mastering Ruby on Rails.
  • Passion for identifying process gaps and driving impactful improvements within teams.
  • Adaptability to work across different problem domains, including revenue systems, customer-facing features, and infrastructure.
  • Experience in e-commerce, consumer growth marketing, adtech, or marketplace systems is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Active use of AI coding tools like Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar, with the ability to judge when to trust AI-generated code and when to make adjustments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership by shaping system architecture, tooling, and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Enhance and maintain existing systems, leveraging AI-first approaches to accelerate development, improve code quality, and reduce friction.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and data teams to design, implement, and deploy scalable solutions that support business growth.
  • Make informed architectural decisions that balance speed, quality, and maintainability for long-term success.
  • Work within a collaborative team environment, solving complex problems and making strategic decisions to optimize product and infrastructure.
  • Mentor junior team members through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge-sharing sessions to foster team growth and expertise.
