About Astro Sewa

Astro Sewa is a Nepal-based digital astrology and spiritual platform connecting users with verified Vedic astrologers through modern technology. The platform offers astrologer consultations, Kundali services, personalized insights, digital payments, and other spiritual services through mobile and web applications.

We are building a technology-driven platform with ambitions to expand from Nepal to the Nepali diaspora, India, and wider international markets.

We are looking for a Senior Lead Full Stack Developer who can take strong ownership of the entire technology side of the product and work closely with the founder to build, improve, and scale Astro Sewa.

This is not a typical developer-only role. We are looking for someone who can lead the technology function as a whole, provide technical direction, and help build and guide the engineering team. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on involvement, from overseeing production systems and developing new features to improving existing systems, mentoring developers, and shaping the company’s overall technical direction. While the person will work closely with the team and delegate effectively, they should also be capable of stepping in hands-on when needed and have a strong understanding across the full technology stack.

Role Description

As the Senior Lead Full Stack Developer, you will be responsible for the technical health, development, reliability, and scalability of Astro Sewa across mobile, web, backend, cloud infrastructure, and production systems. You should be comfortable moving between writing code, solving production issues, reviewing other developers' work, improving architecture, managing releases, and mentoring the team. You will work directly with the founder and have a significant role in technical decision-making and the future direction of the company.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development

• Lead development of mobile applications using React Native.
• Lead development of web applications using React / Next.js.
• Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js / NestJS.
• Develop new features and continuously improve existing functionality across the platform.
• Work closely with the founder, product, and design team to convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Production Ownership

• Take end-to-end ownership of the production environment.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues across frontend, mobile, backend, database, and infrastructure.
• Manage releases, deployments, environment configuration, logging, monitoring, backups, and overall system reliability.
• Be comfortable taking responsibility when something breaks in production and driving the issue through to resolution.

Architecture & Scalability

• Understand the existing architecture and identify areas that need improvement.
• Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and secure technical solutions.
• Identify technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and architectural weaknesses and proactively improve them.
• Help prepare the platform to support increasing users, traffic, transactions, and features.
• Make practical decisions around when to improve existing architecture versus when to introduce new technologies or services.

Code Quality & Engineering Standards

• Conduct code reviews and maintain high coding standards across the team.
• Ensure code is clean, maintainable, testable, secure, and production-ready.
• Establish and improve development standards, branching strategies, testing practices, documentation, and release processes.
• Identify poor implementation patterns and guide developers toward better solutions.

DevOps & Cloud

• Manage and improve cloud infrastructure, primarily using AWS.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, environments, monitoring, logging, backups, and security.
• Understand production infrastructure well enough to independently investigate and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues.
• Optimize infrastructure and technology costs as the platform grows.

Team Leadership & Mentoring

• Guide and mentor developers across the team.
• Review code and provide technical direction.
• Break down technical requirements into tasks and help with estimation and prioritization.
• Help the team solve difficult technical problems rather than simply assigning work.
• Set technical expectations and ensure the team follows good engineering practices.
• Take ownership of technical execution while collaborating with other team members.
  

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is highly hands-on and comfortable being both a technical leader and an individual contributor.

You should have:

• Strong professional experience in full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript development.
• Strong experience with React Native and mobile application development.
• Strong experience with React / Next.js for web development.
• Strong experience with Node.js / NestJS and building production-grade APIs and backend systems.
• Strong experience with MongoDB or similar databases.
• Practical experience working with AWS and cloud-based production environments.
• Good understanding of system architecture, scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, testing, deployment, monitoring, and debugging production systems.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and code quality.
• Experience conducting code reviews and improving existing codebases.
• Experience mentoring or technically leading other developers.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions without needing constant supervision.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a strong sense of ownership.
  

Experience Requirement

• 3+ years of overall software development experience preferred.
• 3+ years of hands-on Node.js experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on React Native experience.
• Experience handling a live production application is highly preferred.
• Experience in a startup environment or fast-moving product company is a strong advantage.
