Compensation
Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $75,700 - $136,300/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). As a Software Engineer I, you'll work on high-reliability/high-throughput systems that manage our customer's security certificates and configurations. As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:
- Designing and developing systems capable of handling tens of thousands of concurrent operations
- Developing software to make efficient use of Relational Database Management Systems and NoSQL databases
- Creating new features from scratch, enhancing existing features and optimizing existing functionality
- Following good development methodology, including collaboration with testing and SQA departments to successfully deploy new system components
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Possess academic or project-based training in Java and familiarity with Python, C++, or Bash in Linux/Unix environments
- Have hands-on project experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks for building scalable backend applications
- Have hands-on project experience with UI technologies through academic or practical project experience using Angular for front-end development solutions.
- Demonstrate foundational understanding or project coursework in Terraform.
- Demonstrate understanding of SQL, relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres), and NoSQL databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, Cassandra) through projects.
