About The Role

The Lead Full Stack Engineer at Humana is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing and executing software engineering activities across the entire technology stack. This includes cloud infrastructure, APIs, microservices, GraphQL services, databases, and modern web and mobile interfaces. The role provides technical leadership and mentorship within Agile Scrum teams, ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performance digital solutions that enhance the Member Experience Portal. The Lead Engineer will champion engineering excellence, operational efficiency, and security best practices while collaborating closely with product managers, UX teams, and business stakeholders to create seamless, personalized member experiences. This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of modern software development practices and a passion for driving innovation through technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in software development and technical leadership
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, TypeScript, etc.
  • Experience with backend technologies like .Net, Java, Spring Boot, or Node.js
  • Strong understanding of JSON, RESTful web services, and client-server interactions
  • Experience with highly scalable web frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, especially Azure or equivalent providers
  • Experience with environment orchestration tools like Kubernetes, Docker, or AKS
  • Mobile app development experience, particularly with React Native and AI/Agentic AI tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot
  • Excellent communication, mentorship, and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and technical excellence
  • Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design sessions to ensure best practices
  • Drive the adoption of modern software engineering practices, including API-first development, micro frontends, CI/CD, and test automation
  • Champion the integration of AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery efficiency
  • Ensure security is integrated into all phases of development, including threat modeling, secure coding, vulnerability scanning, and compliance validation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver highly personalized, seamless member experiences aligned with enterprise goals
  • Establish and maintain standards for code quality, reliability, scalability, and maintainability
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance the company's technical capabilities
  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the overall technology roadmap
