AI Product Builder
VRG | Full-time | Remote, Thailand
Build useful software and automate business tasks with AI.
ABOUT VRG
VRG is a technology consultancy that builds software, AI applications, and immersive experiences for clients across enterprise SaaS, professional services, and education. Our work ranges from web platforms and business automation to VR training and interactive experiences. We are a small team, and each person is responsible for delivering and supporting their work. You will work directly with our founder and the people using what you build.
THE ROLE
Take an unclear problem and turn it into something useful. You'll work across client projects and our own products: understanding the need, deciding what to build, getting a working version into people's hands, and improving it through real use.
AI tools are part of the daily workflow. You'll use them to explore ideas, write and review code, test features, investigate problems, and automate repetitive work. You'll also be responsible for understanding the result: explaining how your application works, finding out why it fails, and making it reliable enough for people to depend on.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Work with our founder and clients to understand problems, question assumptions, and define a practical first version.
• Build web applications, dashboards, internal tools, and AI-powered features from idea through deployment.
• Take responsibility for the interface, database, APIs, authentication, testing, and production support.
• Put working prototypes in front of users early, gather feedback, and decide what to improve or simplify.
• Build assistants and workflows that connect business systems, documents, email, and other tools through APIs and MCP where appropriate.
• Turn repetitive work into dependable automation, with clear permissions, error handling, and human review for consequential actions.
• Evaluate AI output against real examples, including incomplete inputs, incorrect answers, and unexpected tool behaviour.
• Create reusable integrations, skills, and development patterns.
• Review and test AI-generated code, investigate failures, and fix the underlying problem.
• Protect customer data through sensible access controls, secure handling of credentials, and careful integration design.
• Monitor performance, reliability, and running costs after launch.
• Document what you build and explain decisions clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Must be legally authorized to work in Thailand; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Working software you can show us, with a clear explanation of what you personally built and what happened when people used it.
• Regular use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or equivalent, including reviewing and debugging their output.
• Practical coding ability in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python, and confidence working with APIs, databases, Git, and deployment tools.
• Product judgement: identifying the important problem, choosing a manageable scope, and recognising when a simpler solution is enough.
• Clear written communication and the ability to make progress independently while collaborating with the team.
• Curiosity, follow-through, and a willingness to investigate unfamiliar systems.
STRONG PREFERENCES
• Experience maintaining software after launch and responding to user feedback or production issues.
• Experience building LLM features, tool integrations, or automated business workflows.
• Familiarity with React, Next.js, PostgreSQL, and modern cloud deployment.
• Experience working directly with clients or business users.
BONUS POINTS
• A small product, useful side project, open-source tool, or automation that other people use.
• A good eye for interface design.
• Thai language ability, useful for working with clients and systems in Thailand.
• Experience with interactive applications, Unity, or VR, where it complements your software skills.
We welcome non-traditional backgrounds. Show us your work and how you think. A strong portfolio can come from employment, independent projects, freelancing, or a business you've built yourself.
HOW WE WORK
Remote work is available, or you can work with the team in Bangkok. Clear updates and useful documentation keep projects moving. We use AI throughout development; you're accountable for the quality of what you ship. You'll help scope, build, test, launch, and support your projects, and talk directly with the people who need the solution.
OUR STACK
TypeScript, JavaScript, Python; React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS; Node.js, APIs, PostgreSQL, Supabase; Vercel, GitHub Actions, Docker, cloud services; Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, LLM APIs; MCP, webhooks, and business-system APIs.
You don't need to know every tool on the list. You do need to be comfortable learning what's needed to finish the job.
INTERVIEW PROCESS
• Intro call: 30 minutes. Walk us through something you've built, your contribution, and how you used AI.
• Technical exercise: asynchronous and paid. A short, clearly scoped product or automation task using your preferred tools, including AI.
• Working session: 90 minutes. Review your approach, explore trade-offs, and work through a small change together.
HOW TO APPLY
Email careers@vrg.asia with the subject “AI Product Builder: [Your Name]” and include:
• Your CV or LinkedIn profile.
• Two examples of things you have built: a live product, repository, short video, or write-up. Include at least one recent example made with AI assistance.
• A few sentences on the problem each project solved, your contribution, and something you had to fix or rethink.
Private work is welcome: a redacted walkthrough is fine. Please don't share client code, credentials, or confidential information. No cover letter needed. We'd rather see your work.
