Role Description The Software Engineer will work on-site in Abidjan in a full-time capacity, contributing to the development, maintenance, and optimization of software solutions that support public health programs and data systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing back-end services and APIs, writing clean and efficient code, and integrating applications with databases and other internal platforms. The role involves collaborating with public health experts, data analysts, and IT staff to understand requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver reliable software tools. The Software Engineer will also troubleshoot issues, perform code reviews, ensure security and data integrity, and help document technical processes and system architectures.
Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.
• Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience in at least one modern programming language (such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript).
• Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, server-side frameworks, and database integration.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and ability to design modular, maintainable, and scalable systems.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases, version control systems (e.g., Git), and basic software testing practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, communicate technical concepts clearly, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Knowledge of healthcare or public health information systems is an advantage, as is experience working in a government or NGO environment.
