About CTI and CruiseMemora

Cruise Travel Image SA is a Swiss-based company operating in the international cruise photography industry.

We provide cruise lines with onboard photography teams, equipment, creative products, technology and operational support across multiple vessels and cruise brands.

As part of our digital development, we are building CruiseMemora, a web platform for creating, personalizing and managing digital and printed memory products connected to cruise, travel and hospitality experiences.

The platform includes a web frontend and backend, a relational database, object storage and integrations with external services such as authentication, payments and email. Its architecture is intended to remain portable across cloud and self-hosted environments.

The role

The immediate priority is not greenfield development.

You will take over the CruiseMemora MVP currently being developed by an external university team as part of Phase 1. You will gain a full understanding of the platform and assume end-to-end technical ownership after delivery.

This includes the codebase, database, infrastructure, environments, deployment process, access credentials, technical documentation, maintenance and future development.

During the handover, you will work directly with the external development team to:

  • Review the system architecture and codebase.
  • Validate the technical deliverables.
  • Ensure the complete transfer of technical knowledge, documentation, credentials and system access.
  • Identify bugs, limitations and critical issues requiring resolution.

The initial phase will continue until the technical takeover has been completed and the MVP has been successfully deployed, validated and confirmed to be fully operational according to the agreed requirements.

Once the MVP has been transferred and stabilized, you will maintain and modify the existing codebase and progressively design, develop, test and deploy selected Phase 2 features.

If future developments require advanced, experimental or highly specialized expertise, the external university team or other technical partners may support CTI again. You will remain CTI’s internal technical owner and coordinate the integration, testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance of the resulting solutions.

Main responsibilities

  • Review and understand the existing architecture, codebase, database, infrastructure and deployment setup.
  • Manage the technical handover of source code, documentation, credentials, environments and operational procedures.
  • Identify, reproduce, document and track bugs, limitations and critical issues.
  • Maintain and extend the existing codebase through bug fixes, updates and incremental improvements.
  • Manage deployments, environments, access controls, backups and basic application security.
  • Verify correct platform operation across supported browsers, including offline functionality where required.
  • Support internal users and maintain clear technical and operational documentation.
  • Design, develop, test and deploy selected Phase 2 features after MVP stabilization.
  • Coordinate technical work delivered with external development partners when specialist support is required.
  • Act as CTI’s internal technical owner for CruiseMemora.

Potential Phase 2 development

Following the successful handover and stabilization of the MVP, you will progressively design, develop, test and deploy selected Phase 2 features according to CTI’s priorities and the agreed workload.

These may include developments related to:

  • Campaign and customer-data management.
  • Data imports and personalized project access.
  • Template and content-management tools.
  • Email and communication integrations.
  • Analytics, reporting and operational dashboards.
  • B2B, B2C and white-label functionality.
  • Authorized third-party API and system integrations.

What we are looking for

  • Experience developing and maintaining full-stack web applications.
  • Ability to understand, debug, maintain and extend an existing codebase.
  • Strong working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML/CSS and SQL.
  • Experience with relational databases, REST APIs, Git and deployment environments.
  • Practical approach to bug fixing, updates and incremental feature development.
  • Basic understanding of application security, authentication, access management and backups.
  • Ability to document systems, deployment procedures and technical changes clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with external developers and non-technical colleagues.
  • Working proficiency in English.

Nice to have

  • Experience taking over software developed by another team.
  • Familiarity with image-heavy web applications, file uploads or digital publishing workflows.
  • Experience with Progressive Web Apps, offline functionality or third-party integrations.
  • Familiarity with Docker, cloud hosting, CI/CD or production monitoring.
  • Experience with object storage such as AWS S3 or equivalent.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database.
  • Familiarity with authentication standards such as OAuth 2.0 or OpenID Connect.
  • Interest in AI-assisted development tools.

Why join CTI

  • Join as CTI’s first internal engineer for CruiseMemora.
  • Take technical ownership of a real product at an important stage of its development.
  • Work directly with the original external development team during the handover.
  • Influence the platform’s technical standards, processes and future roadmap.
  • Combine platform maintenance with selected new product development.
  • Work on a project connecting technology, photography, travel and personalized digital products.
  • Grow with an internal technical team planned to expand to up to three people over the next two years.
  • Help shape the structure, knowledge base and development practices of the future CruiseMemora team.

Salary, workload and role development

The position will initially be offered at an approximately 60% workload during the MVP handover, installation, technical verification and stabilization phase, with a planned increase to 100% once the platform is fully operational and Phase 2 development begins.

The gross annual salary range for a 100% full-time position is CHF 60,000–80,000, depending on experience, technical skills and overall profile. During the initial 60% phase, the salary will be calculated pro rata. The timing of the increase will depend on the successful completion of the technical takeover, the project roadmap and mutual agreement.

Application and hiring process

Please submit your CV and, where available, a GitHub, GitLab or project portfolio link.

Applications will be reviewed based on technical experience, relevant projects and the ability to work with existing software platforms.

Shortlisted candidates may be invited to:

  1. An initial interview with the CTI team.
  2. A technical discussion or short practical case focused on understanding, debugging or maintaining an existing application.
