Reia is hiring a Founding Engineer.
We are not looking for a normal startup engineer.
We are looking for someone exceptional enough to help build the layer after Excel for institutional finance.
Reia starts with real estate underwriting.
That is the wedge because the workflow is concrete, painful, and valuable: messy deal materials, Excel models, source-backed assumptions, diligence questions, investment memos, committee review, and human judgment.
Today, too much of that work lives across PDFs, spreadsheets, email, chat, and memory.
Excel works because a human analyst supplies the missing context.
An agent needs more structure.
That is what we are building.
Reia is the agentic operating system for institutional real estate underwriting. The Agent works inside the same deal state as the team: sources, evidence, assumptions, deterministic model logic, Statements, Dashboard, Graph, review history, and memo work.
Underneath Reia, we are building `uw`: a modeling kernel for agents and applications to inspect, author, validate, replay, and publish financial model packages.
Real estate is first.
The larger product is infrastructure for institutional asset management: model-native systems where agents can work against governed financial state instead of disposable chat transcripts or fragile spreadsheet context.
You will help build that system end to end.
This means product engineering, backend systems, frontend interfaces, model runtimes, source provenance, agent tools, data extraction, review workflows, and the operating system around underwriting work.
You should be unusually strong across several of these surfaces:
- Python and TypeScript
- React / product frontend engineering
- backend systems and APIs
- data modeling and databases
- financial models or model-like systems
- LLM / agent tool infrastructure
- document parsing, extraction, or source provenance
- systems that need to be correct, inspectable, and reliable
You do not need to know real estate on day one.
You do need to care about building software that survives real financial workflows.
The bar is high.
We care much more about evidence of exceptional work than credentials. Strong open-source work, hard product systems, infrastructure projects, research systems, serious side projects, or unusually fast execution all count.
This is a founding role. You will work directly with the founder, own core product surface area, talk to users, make architectural decisions, and ship production software.
You should not apply if you want a narrow ticket queue.
You should apply if you want to own hard, ambiguous systems and turn them into clear product.
Fully remote, with quarterly weeklong in-person hackathons.
Compensation: $250k-$333k cash compensation, plus founding-level equity.
If you want to build the agentic operating system for institutional finance, we should talk.
