Software Engineer

We’re a small but growing company looking for a Software Engineer to join our engineering team and help us build great products. This is a hands‑on individual contributor role where you’ll write production code daily, collaborate closely with your teammates, and take ownership of features from design through deployment. You’ll work in a modern TypeScript, Node.js, React, and AWS stack.

If you enjoy writing clean, maintainable code, solving interesting problems, and working collaboratively in a positive team environment, you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Do

Engineering

  • Build and ship production features in TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
  • Design, implement, and deploy backend services and APIs on AWS using Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Build responsive, well‑structured React front‑end components and interfaces.
  • Write unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and uphold coding standards.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Architect and maintain AWS infrastructure including ECS, S3, RDS, and related services.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to define and deliver features.
  • Debug, profile, and optimize application performance across the full stack.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation on AWS.
  • Participate actively in sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Take ownership of tasks end‑to‑end: from scoping and design through implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Communicate progress, surface blockers early, and collaborate with teammates to keep delivery on track.
  • Ask questions, share context, and contribute ideas during planning and grooming sessions.

AI‑Assisted Development

  • Use AI tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude) to accelerate development responsibly.
  • Apply AI‑assisted development professionally - speeding up work while maintaining review, judgment, and quality.
  • Help define guardrails and workflows for AI‑assisted coding.

Technical Environment

  • Primary stack: Node.js, TypeScript, React
  • Additional technologies: Python (data processing), some legacy Java
  • Cloud: AWS (ECS, S3, RDS, Terraform, CloudWatch)

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
  • Solid AWS experience - comfortable deploying and operating cloud infrastructure, not just using hosted services.
  • Experience writing tests (unit, integration) and a genuine care for code quality and maintainability.
  • Comfort working in a fast‑moving environment with ambiguity and evolving requirements.
  • Familiarity with Scrum or Agile workflows.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude - someone who makes the team better to work with.
  • Interest in AI‑assisted development and the judgment to use it responsibly.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Python or Java.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (e.g., Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modeling.
  • Background in establishing coding patterns or modernizing codebases.

What You’ll Impact in Your First Year

You’ll own meaningful features that real users depend on, built on a modern TypeScript, Node.js, React, and AWS stack. You’ll be shipping to production regularly, growing your skills alongside a collaborative team, and making a real impact in a company that’s still small enough for your work to matter.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the product as the company grows.
