About The Role
We are seeking a talented Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Camera & Photos Tools & AI Team at Apple. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, along with at least four years of professional experience in software engineering. Proficiency in at least two of the following programming languages—Swift, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript—is essential, with a proven track record of developing both client and server-side applications. Strong understanding of REST API design and experience building scalable, reliable production services are required. Familiarity with web frontend frameworks such as React, as well as native macOS or iOS application development using SwiftUI, is highly desirable. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in integrating AI/ML models into production systems, managing long-running asynchronous jobs, and applying software engineering best practices, including testing, debugging, and code review. Responsibilities
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, your key responsibilities will include designing and implementing AI-powered features within internal tools, such as integrating large language models (LLMs), developing agentic workflows, and creating vision model pipelines for automated image quality analysis. You will evaluate, deploy, and maintain AI/ML models in production environments, ensuring optimal performance, monitoring for quality regressions, managing model versions, and balancing tradeoffs between cost, latency, and accuracy throughout the service lifecycle. Developing prompt engineering strategies and retrieval-augmented systems (RAG) will be crucial to making internal image and metadata repositories accessible and actionable for partner teams. Leveraging AI coding assistants and productivity tools, you will accelerate development cycles and enhance team velocity. You will also plan, design, and own Swift applications used by imaging engineers and quality assurance teams, as well as build and evolve web frontends to surface data, tools, and workflows. Additionally, you will develop and maintain Python REST API backends to support long-running computations, partner with multidisciplinary teams to understand their workflows, and ensure the reliability, performance, and observability of critical services. Participating in technical discussions, code reviews, and cross-team planning sessions will be essential to uphold engineering standards and foster innovation.
