About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer specializing in Back End development to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects, guiding a team of experienced developers in designing, developing, and deploying scalable microservices and full-stack systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating robust, cloud-based solutions that meet regulatory requirements and drive innovative customer experiences. As a key leader, you will collaborate closely with digital product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to deliver solutions that empower millions of Americans with financial tools and resources. Your hands-on experience with modern programming languages, cloud platforms, and open-source frameworks will help shape the future of Capital One’s technological landscape.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of four years of professional software engineering experience is required, excluding internships. Candidates should have at least one year of experience working with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s Degree, over seven years of experience in programming languages like Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js, and at least two years of experience with cloud services. Experience with open-source frameworks, people management, and Agile methodologies is highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, leadership capabilities, and a passion for staying abreast of technological advancements.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of technology projects, overseeing a team of developers to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant microservices and full-stack systems.
• Mentor and develop engineering team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation.
• Collaborate with digital product managers, data analysts, and stakeholders to design and implement cloud-based solutions that enhance customer experiences and meet regulatory standards.
• Stay current with emerging technology trends and participate in internal and external technology communities to bring innovative ideas into the organization.
• Participate in code reviews, evaluate technical solutions, and contribute hands-on coding when necessary to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Node.js, Go, and Scala, and work with container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, leveraging AWS services for deployment and management.
