About The Role
As a
Senior Software Developer for Measurement,
Testing, and Assembly Systems (m/w/d), you will be an integral part of our 20-member interdisciplinary R&D team. Your primary responsibility will be developing
Python-based software solutions to automate and control measurement,
testing, and assembly processes in laboratory and production environments. You will work on system-level solutions within distributed architectures, significantly contributing to the quality and efficiency of our processes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our
automation systems, ensuring seamless integration and robust performance of our laser diode modules. We are seeking a dedicated professional to join us on a permanent basis, working 32 to 40 hours per week, to help us advance our technological capabilities and support our growth ambitions.
Qualifications
- Completed degree in Technical Informatics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Automation Technology, or a comparable technical field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in IT and software development, ideally within a manufacturing environment in the photonics sector.
- Proven track record of successfully executing software development projects, with interface experience in mechanics, optics, measurement technology, production, and IT.
- Expertise in Python programming, with additional knowledge of LabVIEW being advantageous.
- Solid understanding of technical and physical principles, with basic knowledge of photonics preferred.
- Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented working style, with thorough documentation practices and experience using version control systems.
- Enjoyment of working within interdisciplinary technical teams and effective communication across various specialist groups.
- Proficiency in German and English at least at C1 level.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement internal software solutions using Python to control and automate optical assembly and measurement processes.
- Create measurement and evaluation software, including simple user interfaces, for characterizing and measuring laser diode modules for internal use.
- Integrate these system-level solutions into distributed architectures and continuously optimize their performance.
- Enhance existing software developed by the R&D department and transition solutions into production-ready applications.
- Design test cases in collaboration with the team, and execute unit and integration tests to ensure software reliability.
- Build and maintain a scalable software infrastructure for Python applications that supports future growth.
- Conduct self-directed debugging and root cause analysis of application issues, ensuring minimal downtime and high system availability.
