Role: Senior Java Full Stack Developer

Work Split: ~70% Front End (Angular) / ~30% Back End (Java, Spring Boot)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Java Full Stack Developer with a strong design sensibility and deep front-end expertise. This role is weighted roughly 70% towards building rich, responsive and accessible user interfaces in Angular, and 30% towards developing and integrating Java and Spring Boot back-end services. The ideal candidate cares about UI/UX quality as much as code quality, translates design concepts into polished, performant interfaces, and can confidently work across the stack when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Front End (~70%)

• Design, develop and maintain scalable, modular Angular applications using TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Translate wireframes, mockups and design systems into pixel-accurate, responsive, cross-browser UI using HTML5 and CSS3.
• Build reusable components, directives, pipes and shared libraries; contribute to and enforce a consistent design system.
• Implement reactive and asynchronous data flows using RxJS (observables, operators, subjects, state handling).
• Use Angular Material and/or Bootstrap to deliver consistent, accessible and themeable user interfaces.
• Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers and product owners to refine usability, interaction patterns and visual quality.
• Ensure accessibility (WCAG), performance optimisation (lazy loading, change detection strategy, bundle size) and front-end security best practices.
• Integrate front-end applications with REST APIs and handle error, loading and edge-case states gracefully.
• Write unit and component tests; participate in code reviews and uphold front-end coding standards.

Back End (~30%)

• Develop and maintain RESTful services using Java 11+ and Spring Boot 2.7+.
• Design and implement data access layers using JDBC, Hibernate, HQL and SQL against Oracle Database.
• Work with JSON, XML and YAML data formats for service contracts, configuration and integrations.
• Design clear, well-documented APIs that support front-end needs and follow REST principles.
• Troubleshoot and optimise queries, services and integration points.
• Write unit and integration tests for back-end components.

General

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, estimation, sprint planning and technical design discussions.
• Mentor junior developers and promote best practices in UI engineering and full-stack development.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, release activities and technical documentation.
• Take ownership of features end to end, from design handoff to production support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of overall experience in full stack development, with significant depth in Angular-based front-end work.
• Proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade web applications.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
