About The Role

We are seeking a talented Front-End Data Visualization Engineer to join our Data Product Experiences (DPE) team. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting and developing high-performance, interactive data rendering engines that visualize complex datasets with tens of thousands of data points. Your work will directly impact the usability and effectiveness of Stripe's merchant-facing data products, making data insights more accessible, intuitive, and actionable for our users. Collaborating closely with designers, product managers, and engineering teams, you will help define and implement cutting-edge data visualization paradigms that enhance user experience while reducing cognitive load. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of data presentation at Stripe and contribute to the company's mission of increasing the GDP of the internet.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2+ years of relevant front-end development experience in a product-driven environment
• Proficiency with React, modern TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, CSS/Sass
• Experience building interactive web charts and visualizations using D3.js, Recharts, SVG, Canvas, or WebGL
• Strong understanding of web application architecture and performance optimization techniques
• Proven ability to write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code in a collaborative setting
• Experience designing web applications compatible across modern browsers and devices
• Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  
  

Preferred qualifications include a passion for creating engaging data experiences, a solid understanding of design principles such as typography and color theory, and experience with real-time data fetching, client-side state management, and accessibility standards.

Responsibilities

• Partner with designers and product managers to prototype, develop, and deploy interactive analytics dashboards and data visualization tools
• Contribute to Stripe’s core design system by creating scalable, reusable visualization components and establishing charting standards
• Design frontend integration strategies and API contracts to facilitate seamless adoption of analytics features by various teams
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentorship, and promoting frontend best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Infrastructure and Analytics to deliver high-quality, data-driven user experiences
• Optimize rendering performance and manage application state effectively for web applications handling large datasets and real-time telemetry
