About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic Investment Experience Technology team at USAA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a startup-minded environment focused on developing innovative investment solutions. As part of our team, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing scalable, high-quality software that enhances our digital investment platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions that empower our members and financial advisors with seamless, intelligent tools. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, with at least four years of software development experience demonstrating deep technical knowledge in relevant disciplines. Candidates with approved certifications from recognized training programs such as CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT, or eFIT are also encouraged to apply. A minimum of two years of experience leading or contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle is essential. Basic understanding of programming languages and technologies such as Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL, Go, and Python is required. Candidates should demonstrate developing business acumen in operations, risk management, and industry trends, along with experience troubleshooting production issues and articulating technical challenges effectively. Familiarity with cloud technologies and tools is also desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, code, and test complex technical solutions aligned with project requirements and best practices.
  • Investigate and resolve complex application and system issues, including troubleshooting production problems to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Conduct systems analysis to identify operational improvements and recommend policy or procedural changes for enhanced efficiency.
  • Prepare and install complex solutions by defining system specifications, standards, and programming guidelines.
  • Adhere to the software development lifecycle, ensuring quality and timely delivery of solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews, learn key system design principles, and contribute to architectural discussions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and review peer code to promote best practices and continuous learning within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with risk and regulatory policies by effectively identifying, measuring, monitoring, and controlling associated risks.
