Role: Team Lead Software Engineer

Location: Chicago (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to $200k USD + Industry Leading Bonus!

We're currently working with a high-performance trading firm in Chicago that's looking to hire a Lead / Senior Software Engineer to build and shape a new technology function from the ground up!

This is a genuinely unique opportunity for an experienced full-stack engineer who enjoys being close to the code but also wants to have a much broader impact. You'll become the technical owner of a suite of business-critical internal applications, working directly with senior stakeholders to understand problems, shape solutions and build technology that makes a tangible difference across the organisation.

You'll be joining a sophisticated engineering environment where technology is central to the firm's success — but you'll have the autonomy and freedom to define how this new function operates.

The best candidate will have:

• Strong full-stack engineering experience, particularly across Python, TypeScript/React and PostgreSQL
• Experience owning applications end-to-end, from understanding requirements and setting a roadmap through to delivery, production support and continuous improvement
• A track record of working directly with non-technical stakeholders, turning complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions
• Experience working across modern web technologies such as FastAPI, Flask, Next.js or Ruby/Sinatra
• The ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership — you're comfortable creating structure where there isn't much to begin with
