About the job opportunity

You will be a part of our Web Team and use your experience to inform our engineering process when building new features or enhancing existing ones.

This is a technical role, but frequent liaison with the Product and Design team is essential.

What Will I Be Doing?

As a Web Software Engineer you will:

• Participate in the design, development, and testing of existing and new software applications.
• Work in collaboration with our product owners, designers and other developers (backend and frontend) in order to translate the company’s and customers’ needs into state-of-the-art, functional, and beautiful interactive applications.
• Release frequently to production. We strive for small, frequent, and incremental
• releases that continuously provide value.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and debug defects in application code.

Our web stack:

• Our stack consists of React with Ruby on Rails acting as our backend.
• We are not using a database-powered backend, but a distributed system solution.
• Our setup is fully deployed on the cloud.

What skills do I need?

• Minimum 3 years experience in a Software Development position, and a proven track record of high traffic production projects.
• Hands-on experience (at least 2 years) with a modern javascript framework. React is the preferred javascript framework, but Angular, vue or nextJS are also fine.
• Hands-on experience with backend solutions of any stack. Ruby on Rails is preferred but nodeJs, .Net or Java are fine as well.
• The ideal candidate should also have experience with consuming RESTful backend services.
• Good understanding of web architecture is a must.
• Solid engineering principles. You know how to write clean, idiomatic code and you are aware of the trade-offs involved when making design decisions.
• Some previous experience with working with distributed systems is required. Public cloud experience is considered a plus.
• Experience with any of the following testing tools (jest, react-testing-library and rspec) is considered a plus.
• Experience with a version control system (preferably Git).
• Strong communication skills. Code reviews are part of our daily lives, so you should be able to clearly explain complex technical issues to all level team members, while reviewing code or through Jira issues.
• Greek candidates need to have fulfilled military obligations and the ability to communicate in Greek and English (verbal & written form, business proficiency).

Where will I be working?

Our current policy over office attendance is that of a hybrid model allowing our engineers to work remotely while meeting up a few times per week at the office.

Engineers that are based outside Athens are considered fully remote employees while always being welcome to join us at the office for a team event!

The first step in our hiring process is to review your CV. If you seem to be qualified for this position, we will be having a quick phone call with you to welcome you to the process and we will give you a take home code challenge to work on your own time. Once we receive your response to the challenge, the next step is its evaluation from our Engineering managers. Depending on the challenge review, our HR team will inform you for the last recruiting stage which is an interview (virtual or physical) with the recruiting team (HR and Engineers).

The interview time is focused on cultural fit and technical discussion mainly on the code challenge you have sent.
